NLP courses are great if you’ve sampled NLP, finding success with its strategies and you want to explore its possibilities even further.
Do you agree that communication is key to success in all areas of our lives – relationships, career, finances and beyond? That’s the overarching assumption of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), a fascinating field of study into human behaviour and thinking.
But what NLP training program should you opt for? And how can you use your qualifications to enhance your life – and the lives of others?
Why should I study NLP?
Are you fascinated by the mind? Curious to know more about the link between how we think (neuro), how we communicate (linguistic), and patterns of behaviour and emotion (programming)? Then NLP is likely to be the brain food you’re after.
Since its creation in 1975, Neuro Linguistic Programming has evolved into a powerful technique and therapy.
At the centre of NLP is the concept of ‘modelling’, which involves replicating behaviours and actions that have helped people secure success, and transferring that behaviour to others.
By sharing your NLP learnings with clients, you can help them change their habits and adopt new behaviours to bring about improvements in all areas of their lives.
Your clients may range from students to teachers, consultants, managers and other professionals. Equipped with an NLP qualification, you’ll play a direct role in boosting your clients’ communication, management, interpersonal and motivational skills and development.
NLP courses – What should I choose?
When you start shopping around for options, you’ll see there are many NLP courses available across Australia. And lots of options can be overwhelming.
So start simply. Many NLP training providers offer free samples and resources – such as books and CDs – so you can get a feel for the field before diving in. You can also join a short course to get an overview of NLP and where it might take you.
Some certificate NLP courses are as short as two days, equipping you with the basics of NLP and business-centric topics such as selling and negotiating. Or you can immerse yourself in a comprehensive NLP graduate certificate program. Once you have this certification, you can progress to NLP Master Practitioner Certification. The last level after that is NLP Trainer Certification, perfect if you are a public speaker or coach wanting to refine and sharpen your presentation and training skills.
Another option is to study another therapy – such as hypnotherapy, life coaching, counselling or even massage – and add NLP as a secondary service. Some courses in these disciplines touch on NLP. When looking for NLP courses, consider these questions:
- How long is the NLP course?
- Who will be my NLP teacher – and what are their qualifications?
- How can I use my qualification after graduating?
- Is the course accredited by any industry bodies such as the Australian Board of NLP?
- Can I access VET FEE-HELP or other flexible payment options?
- Is the course on campus, online, distance or a mix?
You may have other questions – and the training provider should be only too happy to help. This will help narrow your options and steer you towards an NLP course that ticks all the boxes, and sets you on the pathway to career and life success and satisfaction.
